I want to first apologize for not writing sooner… the hotels I have been staying in do not have internet connection and I have been too busy to post anything. So I will make this as quickly as possible.

So I have been in Europe for 6 days now. I’ve had good luck and I’ve had bad luck here is a brief description of my adventures to date along with some pictures.

Sunday, May 10 – landed in Zurich. Drove to Lucern. After checking into my hotel I decided I wanted to go to the top of a tower overlooking the city. After what felt like a million steps, my knee hated me, but the view was gorgeous.

Then I went to see the lion carved in the side of a stone wall. The detail on the carvings is amazing. My pictures

 do not do it justice.

Monday, May 11 – continued walking around Lucern. Went into shops and tried to find a cuckoo clock. NO LUCK!

Tuesday, May 12 – drove to Interlacken. The drive was great. I was able to stop off for a picture of the view from one of the winding roads.

Wednesday, May 13 – Went to the top of Jungfraujoch. After changing trains 3 times up the mountain I was finally standing at over 11,000 feet. The view was great, but unfortunately I did not dress or prepare for the cold. I FROZE. So I had to buy a fleece pull-over (most likely the top selling item at the souvenir shop). Check out the pics, I’m a hot mess of various clothing types. Then it was onto the ice cave (good thing I bought a fleece). After the ice caves I attempted to go on a dog sled ride but the weather conditions were too bad.

Thursday, May 14 – left Interlacken for Bern. On the way my mother and I stopped at two castles. The first was amazing and those are the pictures I love. The second was closed and under construction. Made it to Bern but it was raining so we didn’t adventure far from the hotel.

Friday, May 15 – TODAY! The weather and my luck came into play… I talked my mother into going to see the Cathedral and Bear Pits. First the Cathedral was under construction so I only got a few pictures. Then we went to the Bear Pits and there hung a sign…

“Dear Guests, Unfortunately, we have to inform you that Pedro, our last bear in the bear pit, died on April 30. Until the opening of the Bear Park in October 2009 there won’t be any opportunity to watch any bears in the pit.”

So there you have it; my adventures so far. I leave Bern tomorrow for Chartres then Paris. Hopefully I will be able to update this blog more often. I hope everyone is doing well.
